Apacheta: Room for Growth Fallow Frames Biennial

APACHETA could be translated from Quechua and Aymara as MAKE BRING. This cairn portraits the spiritual and cultural resilience and resistance of people in the Andes. I grew up surrounded by these cairns, I built them during my hikes at the top of the mountains but I didn’t know how they were called. The main cemetery in my city is called Apacheta but I never questioned the name. A couple years ago I came across some documentation where Spaniards prohibited the construction of apachetas and ordered their destruction. The vulnerability of these rocks were their power. Easy to destroy, easy to build. Thank you @fallowframes for letting me bring a piece of my land and history to my new home.
