“Retablo” is a project inspired by the evolution of Retablos in the Peruvian Andes. When colonizers arrived to the Andes, they used these Retablos with statuettes to share their Catholic stories.
we created pieces using textiles and techniques like sewing, embroidering, gluing, stamping and painting.
While we were making the pieces we embarked in conversations about legacy, death and isolation during the pandemic
Retablo show included the work of 20 seniors, a portrait exhibition, malagua (collective sculpture) and mi casita (interactive installation)
we celebrated our time together sharing our best memories, fears and strategies overcoming the pandemic.
